Deaths - Jacques DURAND
Jacques Durand died on November 10, 2022 at the age of 83, and his funeral took place on November 22 at the Mont Valérien Crematorium.
A civil aeronautical engineer, he began his career in private industry (Snecma then Matra).He joined ESA in 1975 as head of the European satellite communications program, a position he held until 1989. Then, from 1989 to 2006, he headed the Ariane Development Programs, up to and including Ariane 5. This makes him one of the key players in the brilliant history of our launcher.
In 2006, he was elected a full member of the Académie de l'Air et de l'Espace.
A loyal member of the Association Aéronautique et Astronautique de France (3AF), he was also a long-standing member.
The President and members of the Board of Directors of 3AF salute his memory.
